Hospital purchasing agents often buy the cheapest items for patient use
because of budget constraints.
Ironically they confiscate incoming patient's consumer toiletries and
replace them with substandard, inadequately .
preserved products.
A classic example is using contaminated alcohol free mouthwash in the ICU
for patients on respirators who get lower respiratory tract infections
