Dear Martin,

To neutralize the acidity of a product formulation, you can use
either a stock solution of pH 7.2 Phosphate Buffer from the USP Microbial
Limits Test or Buffered Sodium chloride-Peptone Solution pH 7.0 from the
European Pharmacopoeia. I would recommend that you consult either the USP
Microbial Limits Test in the USP or the Microbiological Examination of
Non-sterile Products in the European Pharmacopoeia for the actual
composition of these 2 buffers and how to use them properly.

Don

I was wondering if anyone can name a compound which could be used for
neutralizing acidity. I know dilution and polysorbates are recommended,
but does anyone have any other suggestions?

Thanks
