Hope you are doing well !!
I hope no guideline is narrating about the usage of bioballs and it is not mandatory. However based on the ease of practice, we can expect the number of colonies with more specificity.
Now most of the pharma industries are practicing to use bioballs as it will drastically reduce the work load with respect to the culture suspension preparation works and also helps in compliance aspects as the counts are predetermined gives positive results.

Hence I suggest to use bioballs
