Not nessacery, there are many other causes.
One probable cause example: Isolates of environmental samples are likely to become VBNCs. Staph species are on the NIH/CDC list of microorganisms who can enter into VBNCs state.

Is it absolutely required to compare a current lot of media to previous lots? What would you do if you are doing GPT for TSB and all the organisms grow in the new lot, but an Environment isolate of Staph. is not growing in the old lot? Thanks.
